Vinyasa Yoga Teacher London

What is Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that means “to place in a special way” and in yogic terms it refers to the careful coordination of breath, posture and attention. Vinyasa Flow yoga is a series of poses or ‘asana’ that build in such a way to create heat, movement or exploration within the body. Generally, there is no set sequence of postures in a vinyasa flow class; the teacher might create a sequence around a theme that leads to a “peak” posture, or around a philosophical teaching. Vinyasa flow classes are a great access point for everyone as they can easily be adjusted to suit a range of fitness and mobility levels. Great for beginners.

Great for beginners

An extremely adaptable tool, vinyasa is used throughout many styles of yoga such as ashtanga, jivamukti and rocket. Depending on the students, I love to design vinyasa classes that open up peoples bodies, giving them a renewed sense of space and lightness. I like to include postures that gently challenge, uncovering faces of delight and surprise.

Mental wellbeing

Regular vinyasa classes are great for strengthening, lengthening and aligning the body. Fast and dynamic vinyasa classes help develop cardiovascular fitness, stamina and endurance, whereas the slower somatic sequences help to create strength and balance whilst activating the parasympathetic nervous system. My emphasis on embodiment means it’s not solely a physical practice, most classes use meditation and mindfulness techniques to aid concentration and improve general mental wellbeing.

I am a convert to Yoga .Clare is a wonderful teacher, so supportive and encouraging . She allows every member of the class to work to their ability, all the time reminding us that we are all at different levels and so will develop at our own pace .She creates a lovely calm and supportive environment and I feel energised after the class every Sunday .”
